RockStar Slumber Party

This past Friday I hosted a "RockStar" Slumber party at my house for 10 eight year old girls! These are my Sunday school girls that I've had since they were in 1st grade. Last year we started a slumber party tradition and we had a princess slumber party and it was a hit. To celebrate the end of 3rd grade, we had another slumber party but this time it was the Rockstar theme. I gotta say, this may have been the BEST "themed" party I have ever thrown. I gotta a little out of hand with the idea. When you need 8 adult helpers to help- then you probably went a little overboard but it was such a AWESOME ROCKIN' time!

I took Friday off so that we could transfer our garage into a "Rockstar transformation center" with 6 "Diva Stations". We had Tattoos, Accessories, Make-up, Craft, Nails & Hair. Plus a disco ball!

The girls had a ton of fun. It was a free show for our neighbors- they watched from their first porch and even came over to check it out. One of our neighbors, Tom (whom we love) even showed up later in the night when the girls started playing Rockband. Last year's most popular song was "Eye of the Tiger" so we had a real life Rock Tiger surprise us at the door when the girls started playing that song. (oh yea, we go ALL out here at the Craig household).

My new fabulous friend, Melanie, was the photographer for the evening. I take no credit for all these pictures. There was NO way I could do hair, manage the party and take pictures. She got some AWESOME shots! Cannot thank Mel enough for capturing all this fun.

These were ALL our fabulous helpers for the night- Nicole, Laura,Heidi,Kelly, Kaleena, Kirk & Melanie. Each of these ladies gave up their Friday night in order to help me and I cannot say THANK YOU ENOUGH. There is absolutely NO way I could have done it without their help.

My biggest helper was this man.

A GOOD man would agree to have 10 eight year olds at our house and then make plans with a dude for the evening & peace out. A GREAT man would help me for 3 hours with 10ft purple signs and transform our garage into a Rockstar Transformation Center. But a GODLY man- a Godly man understands how important it is to pour into kids at a young age and teach them that God loves them. A Godly man sticks around with 10 eight year olds, 9 women, participates in the party and even lets the girls paint all over his face.

A Godly man or a man who really is just a 8 year old himself deep down. I'm pretty sure my husband is both!

Thanks everybody for helping me make this year's party such a HUGE success!

And if that wasn't enough excitement for 1 weekend- we also had a baptism. Kaley got baptized this morning at church!

Now I'm going to sleep for a week!

P.S. There are over 300 awesome pictures to look at- please see em! I promise you WANT to see all of these.

1 Hour & 3 Blocks

Determined to get more "artistic" shots for this week's class- I forced myself to walk around downtown Raleigh today after work. It was blazes HOT and humid but I did it for 1 hour and I covered 3 blocks. This week is a test of who my true blog followers are because I'm gonna ask you to do it all again. I think I'm going to print 1 picture from the last set- the one of Melanie by the fence taking a picture. Thats someone "artistic" taking an "artistic" photo while being captured in an "artistic" way. Sounds artsy huh??? I still may do the flower one too because yall liked it and its pretty.

But take a look at these and let me know what you think. I did a TON of editing to them in Lightroom just to see what Lightroom was capable of. (Thank God I didn't accidentally delete them this time so MUCH faster).

Here goes-

Not really one to pick from but I totally didn't see the poop of this guy's head until I saw it on my computer at home. Poor dude. BIRDS!

So what ya think for a hog counter who isn't artistic & who only had 1 hour and 3 blocks??

Ok- anything is up for grabs. Pick your top 3!!! I love you BIG time for doing this twice this week.

Kisses!

Art Photography Using the Rule of Thirds & Butts

I'm so frustrated right now I could scream! I just edited all my photos from the weekend in my new software, Lightroom. But like a true blonde accidently "recyled" the folder and Todd has just spent 30 minutes getting my pictures back. News flash about Candice: I hate NEW software. It intimidates me and I'm lazy and don't want to learn something new. Hopefully I'll learn something fast because I don't have time to do this every weekend.

Ok- so I'm going to continue my rant (b/c its my blog and I can do & say anything I want in MY blog). This week's assignment was Art Photgraphy using the Rule of Thirds. If you don't know what the rule of thirds is- click here.

Ok- so rule of thirds I get and can do. But Art? I'm not an artist. That side of my brain doesn't exist. I count dead hogs for a living. I'm not artistic! Come on people. The artistic side went to my sister, not me.

I met a new friend in photography class. This is Melanie.

From Art Musuem I

Melanie is super artistic (she actually reminds me of my sister Nichole) and super fun so we decided to go to the Art Musuem on Saturday morning and get some "artistic shots". I got a ton of pics of Mel taking pics.

But did I get "artistic" shots? Not really.

So we walk in and there's this statue.

From Art Musuem I

Mel takes a ton of time getting pictures of his face, his hands, his feet. Me, I turn the corner and I'm fasinated by his backside. (Maybe I'm not only artistic but maybe I have ADD as well- who knows?)
From Art Musuem I

Once I stopped looking at butt cracks, I got serious about taking some pictures. There aren't many "artistic" shots but they're the best I could do. Keep in mind, you want to pick 3!

1. Water. I don't think this is artistic, I just like how it captured the water.
From Art Musuem I

2. Field- Again, not very artistic but there's something about this that I love. Maybe its because it reminds me of wheat or hay? who knows.
From Art Musuem I

3. Bug- I got this guy on top of that field. Didn't even use a macro lens which is pretty impressive. Its a perfect rule of thirds photo.
From Art Musuem I

4. Birdfeeder- I'm sure you're asking yourself what on earth is a chick who is terrified of birds doing taking pictures of a bird feeder. Don't worry - there weren't any birds near by so nobody was injured!
From Art Musuem I

4a. Here's a shift on the bird feeder- thanks to Mel.
From Art Musuem I

This isn't part of the pics to choose- but how many butts can be at the Art Musuem??? Who knew butts were so "artistic"? I'm glad my backside ain't that lumpy!!!!
From Art Musuem I

5. Bikers- I thought this picture could go in a Biker Magazine.

6. Arches

7.Flower- Another great rule of thirds
From Art Musuem I

Again, not part of the pics you'll choose from but come on? This is art?
From Art Musuem I

It's actually cut up pieces of tires that are nailed together. But it looked that like those chicken "sticks" from Burger King to me. If you've ever ordered those things from BK then you know exactly what I'm talking about!

8. No clue what this is but I liked it
From Art Musuem I

This was a stretch week for me this week. Wish I had more artistic shots to share and I wish I had time to take more artistics shots this week but I don't. So I apologize in advance that this is all you have to choose from. But hopefully I made you laugh a little!

Don't forget- to pick your top 3 and leave it in the comment section. Anything is up for grabs (even the butt shots).

Hope everyone has a great week!

Last weekend I had lunch with my friends Heather & Kaleena. Heather brought along her 6 month old baby James. You've seen James before on the blog. He is getting SO big and SO stinkin cute! I loved some of the pics that I got of him. (p.s. these are the pictures I love taking. Not necessarily landscapes or still life)
