Texas Part II

As promised I'm going back to Part II of our Texas trip. After Jonathan's graduation on Friday, we woke up Saturday morning and had a visit with my very good friends Reza & Homayra.

From Reza & Homayra

I met Reza in 2000 when I moved to College Station. I was in an Anthropology class and for extra credit, I signed up to have a conversation partner. So at our first meeting, Reza asked if we could do our meetings with his wife, Homayra. I agreed and a friendship with the 3 of us began. They didn't have any children at the time so they kinda adopted me, spoiled me and Homayra cooked Iranian food for me all the time. I love these people! Since then they have had TWIN GIRLS! I hadn't seen the girls since they were 6 months old. They're 5 today and cute as a button!!!! Here are some pictures from our very quick but wonderful visit.

The girls: Neeki

It was a quick visit but it was SO wonderful to see this family. The literally were my family while I was in College Station and 4.5 years is WAY TOO LONG to go without seeing them.

Love you guys!

32 Weeks

Not much is new since last week. Just some weight gain & growth on the baby. Here are the pictures from this week.

From Baby Bump

How far along? 32 weeks (8 months)

Total weight gain? 22 lbs. I'm at the point where I should be gaining a pound each week & we are right on schedule- have gained 2 lbs since my last baby bump post. I'm SO thankful the weight seems to be going straight to the tummy!

Maternity Clothes? Of course.

Sleep? Didn't sleep good while we were in TX but I'm back home and doing good again.

Best moment of the week? Being home for Mother's day. We got to go to church with my mom & the sermon was all about mothers & by honoring them, we honor God. Don't think I have been home for a Mother's day since I left TX 9 years ago. It was very special.

Missing Anything? Feeling normal. Sorry but it just feels like I'm hosting an alien in my body.

Movement? Miss thing already has a personality. She really likes hanging out on the RIGHT side of my tummy and she likes wearing the right side out. It actually feels like I'm bruised internally so I tried to lay on my left side last week so she would move over. She was NOT having any of that. I swear that chick put her feet on my left side and stuck her head on my right. Todd & I both saw her head poking out on the right side of my belly. It was a HUGE bulge! Not only does she know what she likes but apparently she has a big head. If you love me, you'll pray for me. I've got a feeling she will be just like her momma- stubborn, strong willed & full of TX sassiness. Please pray. I'm afraid what they say about paybacks are true.

Food Craving? Not really. Getting tired of milk. Now I just want sno-cones which give me awful heartburn.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope

Gender? Sassy Texas lady

Labor Signs? I'm having Braxton hicks! Those started this week. Paisley thinks it's fun to punch me while I'm having my uterus tighten up and it hurts SO bad

Symptoms? Nothing new

Wedding rings on or off? Still off. Wore them to the TX baby shower and my fingers were tore up that afternoon

Happy or Moody? Happy with a side of emotional

Looking forward to? Getting to see my friend Mel as much as I can over the next week before she leaves for Germany. Very sad week for me.

Til next time,
Candice

Texas Part III: Baby Shower

I'm going to skip Part II of the Texas trip & bring you to the end. I promise to go back to Part II later but I just HAVE to show you pictures of the TEXAS BABY SHOWER now. You need 3 things to have a successful party- a theme, lots of detail & fun guests.

Theme: Sweet Pea (This is a name that Paisley picked up from my mom. I saw a Sweet Pea baby shower on Pinterest and sent it to my cousin & they rolled with it)
Details: You are about to see all the details
Fun Guests: Can't help but have fun guests when they're your very large CAJUN family.

So here goes. My Aunt Cil was the ring leader of the shower. I didn't realize she had so much going on during all this planning. They are in the process of rebuilding my MawMaw Schexnider's house that got destroyed by the hurricane and it was her 50th birthday on Monday. So needless to say, she's had a lot going on. My Aunt Tammy (who isn't my biological aunt but I have always called her Aunt Tammy my entire life and this confuses my husband because he can never keep straight if she's a Schexnider or not) also played a major part. Then my cousins Desi, Meagan & Jessica were all in charge of decorations. And all my other aunts helped out financially.

So the details...

Sweet pea cake (which was deelish!) and Sweet Pea cupcakes.

From Collages
Sweet Pea sign (which I'm going to put up in the nursery) and a chalkboard with one of my favorite verses.
From Collages
Cute toparies, bottle giveaways, pink pom poms & green chinese lanterns. Love it all!
From Collages

A wreath that my Aunt Tammy (and mom) made me that will go in Paisley's nursery & a rocking chair for the mother to be to sit in.
From TX Baby Shower
From Collages

A gift table with the cutest onesies on the wall. I will totally reuse those & can't wait to take her picture in them.
From TX Baby Shower

A cake table with pink & green napkins, green chocolates, pink punch, green potted plants, green gumballs and who doesn't need a Cabbage Patch diaper cake!
From Collages
And my fav- Sweet Pea giveaways with Paisley's name on them.
From TX Baby Shower

Is that some detail or what? Ok, so now we have the theme and the details. Next up? The few gifts.

Aunt Tammy had the idea for people to bring books instead of a card. So we got lots of books to read to Paisley signed by everybody. So when we're having story time at night, we can open the book up and who gave us the book. Genius!
From TX Baby Shower

We got a few Texas A&M things. My sister-in-law Rachel gave us the CUTEST Aggie backpack with P's initial. Can't wait to send her to preschool one day with the bag. My BF (and Longhorn grad) gave us an Aggie book & an crochet Aggie hat (that I couldn't get into). That's love right there. A longhorn giving Aggie gifts. That's some serious love going on!
From Collages

My favorite gift came from my sweet momma who spent HOURS & days working on my diaper bag. Yep, she made it herself. She even made the matching wipe holder & the changing pad. Oh and she stocked the diaper bag full of goodies like bottles, Desitin and even our freaking video monitor. The woman is crazy! Crazy in love with the fact that she's finally getting a grandbaby. I'm just glad I'm on the receiving end of it! haha
From Collages

Can you tell I like it?
From TX Baby Shower

Speaking of my momma, kids just seem to flock to her no matter where we are. I can't wait to see her with Paisley!
From TX Baby Shower

Everybody was so generous and we got close to $600 in gift cards which made it easy to fly back with. That's also a huge blessing so we can get all the big things we haven't gotten yet. We each brought an extra bag and filled them both up with stuff for the shower. I can't wait to go through everything.

And now to the people. We had the shower on Sunday (Mother's day) which was a bit tough for people but they showed up anyways. The entire Schexnider crew was there.
From TX Baby Shower

Jonathan & Rachel came in from College Station
From TX Baby Shower

My BF- Kim- flew in from Washington just for the event
From TX Baby Shower

My mom's friend Janna Whittle who got lost & drove around for 30 minutes was there. This woman literally got me my job with the USDA, prayed for me a husband for almost 10 years and then came to NC for our wedding. Think she was missing this? Nope!
From TX Baby Shower

My high school buddies Amanda & Lyndsi where also there.
From TX Baby Shower

My cousin Tish was in from Kileen.
From TX Baby Shower

And my 82 year old MawMaw Schexnider who is responsible for all these people was there.
From TX Baby Shower

And the girls responsible for it all: The hostesses with the mostesses!
Maegan, Desi, Aunt Cil, Aunt Charlotte, Aunt Netty, Aunt Marian & Jessica & Aunt Tammy (not in picture)
From TX Baby Shower

As a thank you I stole this idea from Pinterest. I thought they turned out pretty cute.
From TX Baby Shower

A HUGE thank you to all the hostesses & for everyone coming out the party & for all of your generous gifts. This has now been the 2nd 'Over the top' baby party we have had! I feel so incredibly blessed for all my friends & my family. I seriously don't think I deserve all the love & kindness that they have shown to me but I sure do appreiciate it!!! Thank you ALL SO very much!!!
From TX Baby Shower

Much Love,
Candice

Texas Part I: Jonathan's Graduation

This past weekend we were in Texas for my brother Jonathan's graduation from Texas A&M University. I graduated from A&M in 2002 and now almost 10 years later in 2012, we have another Aggie grad in our family. 2 out of 3 isn't bad!! We are SO proud of Jonathan. He went into the Navy right out of high school and then started college 4 years later. He worked part time jobs, took crazy amount of hours, made good grades and was married through it all. Most folks can't do that. But Jonathan can and now he has an AeroSpace Engineering degree from the BEST school in the country. In July he will return to the Navy and will go OSC then to pilot school in FL. So thankful that we were able to go & share this very special day with him. Here are a few pics from the celebration.

30 Weeks

Time for the baby board! This was our 1st board without Melanie's help :-( Mel is in Canada tending to her sick grandmother so Todd & I were on our own. I did the board & Todd took the pictures. Definitely not as good as Mel's but oh well. I'm just warning you- the boards will be down hill from here. Mel will be back in Raleigh for a short time before she moves to Germany & then we're really on our own. So you've seen the best in previous weeks.

How far along? 30 weeks (7.5 months)

Total weight gain? 18-20 lbs. Depends on the day. Can't get an accurate measure here at home.

Maternity Clothes? Of course. It's warmed up so finally getting to wear all those dresses I bought.

Sleep? Still good

Best moment of the week? Cracking up during Labor & Delivery class because Todd was acting up. I hope he's that funny in the delivery room. I know I'll need it!

Missing Anything? Being in control of my emotions

Movement? The last 2 days have been torture. Paisley got REALLY active yesterday after lunch. She was doing constant movements, jabs & punches. 3 hours later I was worn out and knew she would get tired and quit. Nope! She literally didn't stop until 8:30pm last night- 7.5 hours of intense kicking! I was worn out & had a meltdown. Todd suggested I take a bath (something we learned at Labor & Delivery class). He drew the water for me & put soft music on my iPod. I passed out at 8:30pm completely exhausted. This morning she & I had a little talk about how today was the Lord's day and we rested on the Lord's day. You think she has rested? Nope. Going nuts again today. Not sure what's going on in there but she's wearing her momma out.

Food Craving? Not really.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope

Gender? Karate Black Belt

Labor Signs? No

Symptoms? Heartburn & uncontrollable crying. This past week has been a tough one. There have been so many deaths & news of cancer this week. I haven't had the emotional capacity to deal with it all. I have cried more in the past 7 days than I have in the past 7 years. Seems like Satan is just on the attack lately and my poor hormonal self just can't handle things like I use to. I also am suffering from the worst heartburn. It's okay during the day but when I lay down at night, it feels like my throat in on fire and makes it very difficult to fall asleep.

Wedding rings on or off? Still off.

Happy or Moody? Moody & extremely emotional

Looking forward to? Going to TX on Friday for my brother's graduation from Texas A&M and our TX baby shower. Can't wait to be home!

Til next time,
Candice

CM Assignment: Friendship

It's that time again for another Clickin Moms Assignment and this month it's "How I view Friendship". I could go on & on about the wonderful friends I have in my life. (I truly do have the BEST friends in the entire world.) But instead I want to focus on my two new little friends. My friend Geraldean's 2 year old twins- Gussie & Ida.

First of all, these 2 little girls have got to be the funniest 2 year olds I have ever met. They drop one liners like it's going out of business. I caught myself listening to them and asking myself "did they really just say that?". Kids do say the darnest things but these two- STAND UP COMEDIANS! Typically I don't like the competition when people are funnier than me, but man you can't help but laugh when you are around them. They're also very well behaved and cute as buttons. My friend Geraldean truly is a super mom and is doing such a great job with them. I absolutely love spending time with these two. Makes me sad that I don't see them as often as I'd like.

From Gussie & Ida

The coolest thing about the girls is their FRIENDSHIP. These two are friends in every since of the word. They have this special connection with each other that most of us will never know. I have a sister and we have struggled our entire lives to get along and I can now say that we get along great. But that took YEARS of prayer on my mother's part. But I don't think I will ever experience what these girls have. They'll always have each other to lean on. Nobody will understand them as well as the other. And I hope/pray that they will continue to get along in their childhood well into their adulthood. There is something so special about having a sister. But to have an identical twin sister that you can lean on for your entire life- that is a rare commodity!

I take NO credit for these next pictures of the girls. My friend Melanie took these a few weeks again at the Baby Party & they really capture the girls friendship.
